Answers

1. Are the reels here new or used?

Used and refurbished. All of the reels I sell are between 1 and 70 years old and totally gone through by me and repaired and re-lubed before being offered for sale.
2.  Do the reels look like new? Usually no. One of the most expensive parts of rebuilding old Penns is chrome replacement. I sell reels for functionality 90% of the time. This makes the price of my reels much more affordable.

3.  How much is shipping? Shipping in the USA is the same no matter where it is. I use USPS Priority Mail and will ship 1 reel for 10 bucks. I will also combine shipping and mail between 2 and 4 reels for 12 bucks in a flat rate box.

4. How long have you been dealing in Penn reels?

I repaired my first one in 1960. I still have that reel today, and fish with it on a regular basis.

5. I’ve taken my Penn apart, and I can’t get it back together. How much to fix it?

10 bucks plus shipping.
6.  I need my newly purchased or repaired reel in a big hurry. How soon can I have it? I will ship overnight at a higher price or even hand deliver reels if the need dictates it as long as you pay the cost. When I get a reel in for repair and am given notice, I can fix it and have it out the door in an hour 99% of the time. I have a large supply of repair parts in stock.

7.  Do you take credit? No. It makes for hard feelings if something doesn’t go right.

8.  Will you talk to me on the phone while I try to put my Penn back together myself?

Yup. No charge.

9.  Do you work on other reels besides Penns?

No. Just Penn conventionals. No other brands. No Penn spinning reels.

10. Can you recommend a model for me to use? Absolutely. I know most models very well, and have done a lot of fishing with them under various conditions all over the United States. It’s better to have me advise you than to pick a model yourself if you’re new to Penns.

11.  I want a showcase reel to put on display that is absolutely immaculate. Will you do that?

Yes. Given time to find the right parts, I can make a 70 year old reel look as if it was just purchased today and include an original box, paperwork, and hardware that originally came with it.
